The Dark Corner Stage Combat Workshop - 2026

2-DAY DARK CORNER STAGE COMBAT WORKSHOP

Each year multiple Certified Teachers (CTs) from the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) travel to South Carolina for the Upstate's premier stage combat workshop.

Spanning 2 days with 5 class periods each day, training can include classes in Unarmed, Rapier & Dagger, Single Sword, Broadsword, Knife, Quarterstaff, Whip, Kali Sticks, Intimacy, and more!

6-DAY SKILLS PROFICIENCY COURSE - Broadsword

After 30+ hours of training with Certified Teacher Rob Aronowitz in Broadsword, students will complete their Skills Proficiency Test (SPT): a performed fight scene to be adjudicated by an SAFD Fight Master. If the students’ work meets SAFD criteria for safety and dramatic effectiveness, students receive SAFD Proficiency Certificates.

Robert Aronowitz is a New York City based Instructor, Performer, Director, Fight/Stunt/Intimacy Coordinator, Theatrical Firearms Safety Instructor, and Certified Fight Director. His professional work has taken him all over the world and he is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, the Society of American Fight Directors, and the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat. As an instructor, Robert has taught for the New York Film Academy, NYU, Juilliard, PACE University, Muhlenberg College, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and the University of Central Florida, among others. Robert is also the Co-Founder of Neutral Chaos, a combat & movement company that offers choreographic solutions, private instruction, and several masterclass conferences around the country. Neutral Chaos is the largest combat certification school in the US.
